Rob Hopkins launched the Transition Towns movement in Totnes, UK, in 2006, asking the question: 'What would life look like if we designed the transition away from oil?' The Transition model spread to 1,200+ communities in 50+ countries, building local food systems, energy cooperatives, local currencies and community-led housing.
