Born from the anti-mafia movement Libera, founded by Don Luigi Ciotti in 1995, Libera Terra produces food and wine on land legally confiscated from the mafia under Italy's 1996 Rognoni-La Torre law, primarily in Sicily, Calabria, Campania and Puglia. Seven cooperatives now cultivate confiscated estates, producing olive oil, pasta, wine, legumes and honey under the Libera Terra label.
