German-American political theorist (1906-1975), one of the most influential thinkers of the twentieth century. Author of The Origins of Totalitarianism (1951), The Human Condition (1958) and Eichmann in Jerusalem (1963), where she coined the phrase 'the banality of evil'. Professor at the New School for Social Research in New York from 1967 until her death. The Hannah Arendt Center at Bard College preserves her archive and continues her work on plurality, judgement and public life.
