La professeure Zoubida Charrouf, de l'Université Mohammed V de Rabat, a consacré trente ans à la recherche sur l'arganier (Argania spinosa), « l'arbre de vie » endémique du Maroc. Ses travaux scientifiques ont établi les bases biochimiques des propriétés de l'huile d'argan, et transformé un produit traditionnel en ressource cosmétique et culinaire mondiale. Plus important encore, elle a cocréé un modèle coopératif (association Ibn Al Baytar) qui reverse directement les revenus de l'huile d'argan

كرّست الأستاذة Zoubida Charrouf، من Mohammed V University في الرباط، ثلاثين عامًا للبحث في شجرة الأركان (Argania spinosa)، «شجرة الحياة» المستوطنة في المغرب. وقد أرست أبحاثها العلمية الأسس الكيميائية الحيوية لخصائص زيت الأركان، فحوّلته من منتَج تقليدي إلى مورد عالمي في التجميل والطهي. والأهم من ذلك أنها شاركت في ابتكار نموذج تعاوني (Association Ibn Al Baytar) يوجّه عائدات زيت الأركان مباشرةً إلى تجمّعات النساء الأمازيغيات في منطقة سوس، فيوفّر دخلًا مستدامًا، ويصون ممارسة موروثة عن الأجداد، ويحمي غابة الأركان من التصحّر.
