Founded in Rennes in 2017 by Yann and Lydwine Bucaille, Café Joyeux is the first international chain of café-restaurants run by people with cognitive and intellectual disabilities (Down syndrome, autism). 30 locations across France, Portugal, Belgium and New York City (opened March 2024, rent-free by Boston Properties, decorated by Sarah Lavoine, menu by Thierry Marx). 250+ crew members on permanent contracts; 50-70% of all staff have disabilities.
